THE Denton High School Band Program

THE PRIDE OF BRONCO COUNTRY MARCHING BAND

Every student in the DHS band program will spend their fall as a member of the Pride of Bronco Country Marching Band. The Pride performs at every football game, and at a number of regional marching contests in the greater DFW area. The Pride has recently experienced success in the Texas UIL Marching Contest and at the USBands Competition. In addition to performing, the marching band hosts the annual Golden Triangle Classic Marching Contest, one of the premier marching contests in the greater north Texas region.

CONCERT BANDS

Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble is the premier performing ensemble of the Denton High School Band program. Students who audition and earn a spot in the Wind Ensemble will be held to highest standards of the DHS Band program. It is expected that these students demonstrate command over their instrument and the literature they are asked to play. As members of the wind ensemble, students will participate in UIL Concert & Sight Reading, UIL region and state level solo & ensemble contests.

Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band is the advanced performing concert band. Students in the Symphonic Band are held to the same standards of fundamental excellence on their instrument, but will perform literature more appropriate for their skill level. Like the Wind Ensemble, students will participate in UIL Concert & Sight Reading, UIL region and state level solo & ensemble contests, as well as the DHS cluster solo and ensemble festival.

Concert Band

The Concert Bands in the Denton High School Band program are designed to challenge students by performing appropriately leveled literature, with a focus on continuing fundamental training. Students will still prepare for multiple concerts and competitions throughout the year.
