ALL VOLUNTEERS (excluding district employees) must complete the yearly background check for the district.

Volunteer Opportunities – Chaperones

  • Chaperone – Spring Trip

    15 hours credit
    Chaperones supervise students throughout the trip, including during travel, meals, and free time. Serve as a point of contact and support.

  • Chaperone – Contest Days

    4–8 hours credit
    Same duties as away game chaperones. Contests typically involve longer days and may include a second performance if the band reaches finals.

  • Chaperone – Away Games

    4 hours credit
    Chaperones arrive at DHS as students prepare to board buses. Responsibilities include gathering materials (roster notebook, medications, radios, food/snacks), taking roll, and supervising during travel. At the event, chaperones guide students on where to go and when. After the game, they take roll again, ensure the bus is clean, return items to Booster storage, and restock for the next event.

  • Chaperone – Winter Guard

    2 hours credit
    Chaperones are needed to accompany Winter Guard students to and from contests and supervise during the event.

Volunteer Opportunities – Other

  • Solo & Ensemble

    4–6 hours credit
    Help with logistics during solo/ensemble auditions and concerts. Volunteer roles and shift options will be shared closer to the date.

  • Golden Triangle Classic (GCT)

    4 hours credit per 4-hour shift
    DHS hosts GTC at C.H. Collins – our biggest fundraiser. Volunteers are needed all day for setup (concessions, signage, hospitality, parking), event operations, and clean-up. A detailed sign-up list with credit hours per role will be shared closer to the event.

  • Chet Baker Festival

    4 hours credit
    Assist with meal service and admissions for the evening concert during this event.

  • Pit Crew

    1–4 hours credit per performance
    Assist in moving pit equipment for performances. Volunteers will be trained on placement and setup. Hours vary based on the event.

  • Uniform Fitting

    4 hours credit
    Help ensure the uniform fitting process runs smoothly. Support directors and assist students during their fittings.

  • Band Banquet

    2 hours credit per shift (Setup or Cleanup)
    Volunteers needed for setting up and/or cleaning up after the Band Banquet. Credit is given per shift.

  • Meal Service

    2 hours credit
    Assist with distributing pre-ordered meals for home games or other events. Duties include confirming meal distribution, clean-up, and assisting with tailgates (as needed).

  • Bandwiches

    1 hour credit
    Help prepare and label sandwiches (“Bandwiches”) for students to eat after away games. Volunteer sign-ups will be posted via Sign-Up Genius and Facebook.

  • Concert Receptions

    1 hour credit per concert
    Help coordinate and serve desserts/drinks after concerts. Includes setup and clean-up.

  • Photographer / Videographer

    1 hour credit per event
    Capture performance and candid moments. Upload photos to Cluster. Videographers will receive press box access to record shows for review.

  • Uniform Check-In/Out

    1 hour credit per session (Check-in OR Check-out)
    Help distribute and inspect uniforms before performances and collect/store them afterward.

  • Prop Movers

    1 hour credit per performance
    Move props from the warm-up area to the field and back to the truck after performances. Includes free event admission. Additional credit is given if the band advances to finals and performs twice.

  • Snacks / Food / Beverages

    ¼ hour per case donation
    Snacks and water are typically provided by the Boosters for students for games, trips, and other activities.  You will receive ¼ hour per donation per case of water or individually wrapped snacks.

  • Drivers

    Varies by event
    Occasionally, we need volunteer drivers to transport small groups to local events. Details and requirements will be posted as needed.
